Corbells and Carvings

More Carving than at Sunday lunch!

Heard the story of the ugly duckling who turned into a majestic swan?! Well, in cabinet making terms, that's what happens when you add a corbell to an inset under a cabinet top.

They are all hand carved by out master craftspersons to ensure that you get that really sharp definition and a crisp clean cut that is our unmistakable stamp of quality.

We stock a large range in pine which is suitable for staining in a wide range of colours and hues, to match anything from European Oak, with its warm yet soft honey colour, through to cedar and, of course, those often seen baltic stains.

Similarly we stock many different designs from the ever popular Colonial Leaf, through to more ornate Victoriana designs and back to the plainer, yet grand, contrasting flutes associated with the Georgian period of architecture and furniture design. All these are available in a wide range of sizes.

But if you place an order with us, we can carve any design in any size you like, in any timber which is suitable, either provided by you or sourced to your order.

Normally, it is desirable to embellish corbells with a suitable top mould, of which we have several variations available. The one pictured in the photograph is TM3, which provides a plinth from which the corbell appears to support the shelf, in a truly graceful yet Herculean manner. Can I be so bold as to suggest a quick perusal of our mouldings?

We do not stop at carving corbells. In fact, we can just about carve any timber item for you, in virtually any design. From mirror heads to door inserts to turned items embellished with carvings; nothing is beyond the skill of our craftsmen, albeit we find toothpicks tedious and overpriced!

Take the Corinthium column below as an example. Four pieces of 90 mm by 90 mm pine, laminated together, turned then carved. Stained to look like 100 year old flame mahogany, I defy you to distinguish it from the craftsmanship normally only seen in renowned pieces of antique furniture that grace the great homes of Europe! But, if you require a piece like this, remember, Rome wasn't built in a day and while we won't keep you waiting as long as Caesar had to endure, we can't compete with McDonald's driveway service on such detailed lines.

Why not pay us a visit; you will be surprised how easy it is to incorporate style into your home, office or commercial requirements and your patience will be rewarded.
